The exposition „UND#5“ for the presentation of artistic initiatives will take place in Karlsruhe, in the “Nancyhalle” at the congress centre, from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th March 2010.

Apart from the established art business, but on the pulse of the art production, the 5th edition of the platform “UND Karlsruhe” is taking place in 2010. Due to the extensive conception concerning contemporary art, the “UND” is unique throughout Germany: it offers a forum to producers’ galleries, artistic initiatives and networks of artists, also with the aim to present and support the artists.
The artists are those who make up the platform for a vivid art scene and introduce new aspects to art.
The platform “UND” offers the opportunity to a privately interested public, to artists, art intermediaries, curators, gallery owners and collectors to establish contacts on a still unknown domain.
Furthermore, the visitors can rejoice in a varied programme including performances, readings, concerts, DJs and guided tours.

The „UND#5“, which coincides with the fair „art Karlsruhe“, presents a diverse, heterogeneous, national and international linked „off-scene“.
The exposition asserts itself as a platform that points the way ahead for the new contemporary art, that goes to make up a subdomain of artistic production which has hardly been considered by other expositions.

This year, 25 artistic initiatives with approximately 180 artists coming from Paris, Stockholm, Mexico City, Lucerne, Berlin, Hamburg and Karlsruhe, will exhibit their works in the „Nancyhalle“ , Kongreßzentrum Karlsruhe.
As a result they deliver insight into the wide-ranging spectrum of the latest art scene.
Due to the particular and open architecture of the hall, it’s supposed to become an appealing and exciting presentation of completely different art works.

The large number of participants is an indication of the „UND“ being a lasting an important organization. Furthermore, some projects are specifically location-dependent and so the “UND” offers the possibility to the artists to introduce themselves and to invite other people to an immediate dialogue.
The success of the “UND” is based on a convincing mixture of local presence and national as well as international artistic initiatives. This fact is reflected in the number of visitors ad promises a further growing local and national response for the following years.
The “UND” has established itself as a basis and a field of experimentation for creative artists as well as a yardstick for the contemporary art.
In 2008 the opening speech was made by Dr. Bernhard Serexhe whereas in 2009 Margit Brehm (curator and former head of the art gallery -Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden) opened the exposition.

This supporting platform is organized by the members of the association „UND Plattform Karlsruhe e.V.“
Some participating artists contribute actively to the realization. They are supported by students of different subjects as cultural management, history of art and applied cultural sciences.
In particular we would like to thank the cultural affairs office in Karlsruhe for its support.
